Guest: Adam Archuleta

110Our guest this week is Adam Archuleta. Adam was selected by the St. Louis Rams with their second pick of the first-round (20th overall) in the 2001 NFL draft. After spending five quality seasons with the Rams, Archuleta signed a six-year contract to play for the Washington Redskins and become the highest-paid safety in the league during the 2006 offseason. After one season with the Redskins, Adam was reunited with former defensive coordinator Lovie Smith and became a Chicago Bear during the 2007 offseason. The Oakland Raiders signed Adam during the 2008 offseason to play linebacker for the team. The former walk-on linebacker for Arizona State University looks forward to bringing his strong work ethic and hard-hitting ways to Raider Nation. Archuleta was born in Rock Springs, WY, and attended Chandler High School in Chandler, AZ. Competing on the football team, Adam earned first-team all-Central region and all-state honorable mention for the Wolves his junior and senior years. His senior season, he also was named Channel 12 News Defensive Player of the Year and all-Valley as a defensive back and running back. Adam headed to Arizona State to bring his football skills to the Sun Devils after not being highly recruited out of high school. By the time he graduated, he became one of the best defensive players the school has ever produced. As a senior, he was named the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year and was an all-Pac-10 Conference first-team selection as a linebacker. He was also one of three finalists for the Dick Butkus award, which is given to the top linebacker in college football. Archuleta was an Interdisciplinary Studies/Secondary Education major at Arizona State.
